Yes. All of this. I remember talking about gossip in first year Sociology. We talked less about celebrities and more about gossip within your own circles, but the underlying idea is the same. It’s something you have that can be shared. It can be just as meaningful as other kinds of conversation.

“Aren’t there more important things to worry about” and “Why don’t you just focus on th things in your life and stop worrying about other people” are often the fall-back retorts from someone who can’t think of an actual response to something they disagree with.
