Sorry. It seems like my pessimism and imagination cannot keep up with how f*ing evil and surreal the world is proving to be. (Not to say the world wasn’t evil before, but it sure is working hard to embrace surrealism lately.)

At least Sting didn’t break out in spontaneous lute-playing? No one wanted that.

Like those f*ckers wouldn’t offer to do it for free. (And we’d somehow end up paying them super-double-plus overtime or something, too.)

The extra kick to that “holy shit” is that not only isn’t this dangerous hyperbole for the sake an election, but it is an ad made by the party that currently controls all 3 parts of the executive branch of government. Think about that for a minute. They’re acting like they’re in a shady election while in complete

I was about to ask if was a “cut through” from one side of the building to the other. Wait. What do they do in crappy weather? Circumnavigating that sucker must be such a time-suck. Huh. I don’t think I’ve ever considered what a terrible building design that is from any sort of usability perspective.

Kudos for taking your kids — I can’t imagine it was easy to try and explain to a child of any age, but, wow, does it need to be seen and discussed. As you say, if nothing else, so we have the tools to thoughtfully evaluate how things are going in the here-and-now compared to history. (Rather than leaping with both

On the other hand, the shitgibbon didn’t change a thing with the lexicon: (n) trump “playing card of a suit ranking above others” dates to the 1520s; (v) trump “surpass, beat” dates to the 1580s.

“...and by then it was too late.”

Annnnnd? What did you and Jasper think of the book? I loved the premise but — being vague here to not spoil — found the story somehow not quite to my liking. I haven’t read the sequels yet. The world-building leaves all sorts of directions to go; maybe they’ll address my hang-up along the way.

What. An. Asshat.

I am not nearly so heroic; there are multiple Toomey office locations. I’ve been protesting in front of a boring one. The Tuesdays with Toomey folks are amazing, though, yes. (I barely remember it is Tuesday, half the time.)

Strunk and White appear to agree with you. Hyphenation is a weakness of mine, exacerbated by all the industry-standard “tech speak” I’m forced to employ. I should be grateful I can communicate in something other than l337 5p34k while drooling incoherence about “synergies.” I regret many of my life choices. Send help,

Oh, Jasper! He had a harrowing start, poor kitty, but obviously has done well for himself. What a fabulous, ginormous tail-floof!!!!

25 below?! That is firmly into dangerously cold. Once upon a time, I got frostbite on my feet thanks to -20 (-80 with the insane windchill). Toes have never been the same. Please be careful!

Ms. McGuire is a friend-of-a-friend*...and given the ridiculous stories I hear about her cats, I believe she would approve heartily of your chosen companion and plans. If it’s half as cold there as it is here, I recommend you supplement kitty with blanket and a mug of tea.

I probably would’ve remembered anyway, but I had help; a channel showed the two movies repeatedly around Halloween. And since we’ve already established I eschew excitement and random dudebros, but look favorably upon blood and demons... I watched ‘em both. I was happily surprised how well the movies held up.

Do you have to have it ALL?

And yet he just got reelected in 2016.

Voters aren’t outraged by Toomey...

Ha! Just today I had to explain the ring on my left hand to a coworker. “That? Oh, that’s my leave-me-the-hell-alone-on-the-bus ring.” Another coworker piped up to say many of his female acquaintances had one.
