In Trump’s defense, he thinks Frederick Douglass is the guy behind Frederick’s of Hollywood and that guy has done an amazing job.

To be fair, Frederick Douglass did a tremendous job on the Celebrity Apprentice that season he won over Clay Aiken. Let’s not forget his stirring portray of Ike Turner in What’s Love Got To Do It With. Everybody is talking about how great he is in those Allstate commercials.

You really get spoiled living in and around Boston ‘cause I’ve never seen a MAGA hat or t-shirt or even any Trump signs around where I live. But if I did see one, I would certainly give them a stern, disapproving yet mournful look, followed by an even sadder head-shake. Maybe even a resigned “sigh”.

I really like Amy Adams* and cerebral sci-fi, so Arrival was a no-brainer for me.

Arrival is worth it IMO, and fully deserves the best picture, director and cinematography nods...it’s madness that the woman who’s on screen for the overwhelming majority of the run-time somehow isn’t nominated for her performance.

You guys! It’s all happening! I couldn’t make it to DC but I’ll be marching with you all in solidarity in Philadelphia! And my favorite professor from college let me know that they will be doing the same in that city! Anyone else doing an auxiliary march tomorrow?

On the eve of the inauguration, I think it’s a good time to remember that under President Obama, twenty million Americans gained health insurance, cutting the percentage of uninsured Americans to single digits; same-sex marriage was legalized; DADT was repealed; combat positions were opened to women and transgender…

Audiobooks are also good in situations where you can’t reead a regular book. I like listening to them on the bus.
