I’m tuning out ANYONE who refers to the soldiers (troops, military, whatever other name) in their disagreement with Kaepernick’s protest. It’s never been about them, Kaepernick has said so very clearly, and making it about them anyway is a choice at this point.

“[Saying] ‘You’re a backup quarterback [black man], stay in your place,’ that’s an issue. To me, you’re telling me that my position as a backup quarterback [black man] and being quiet is more important than people’s lives.

Counterpoint: Dilfer and his ilk should speak up, loudly and frequently. Let everyone know precisely how idiotic that side of the debate is.

Ugh. What is it with white guys constantly invoking MLK to criticize protests? They must think that when MLK wasn’t walking around reciting the “I Have a Dream” speech, he was kissing white people on the cheek and apologizing for Malcom X’s militancy. Their fucking heads would spin if they listened to all of MLK’s

My favorite is when they argue he doesn’t have a point because white people are abused by cops too. WHAT! How is that justification for dismissing Kaep?!

Sorry that I won’t want to support a person who approves of the slaughter of innocents. Or one who supports propping up institutions instead of people who need our help.

So you are okay with overly-bombastic, misleading shaming rhetoric?

She used the “putting Trump in the White House” shaming of third party voters. That is disgusting. Samantha is smarter than that and knows better. The Democratic Party does not stand for my ideals. I will not support them for President. I will vote down-ticket for them, but I will either abstain from the President

So much this. They don’t want to address it, and it’s scary that it’s in their face. It’s now making them question THEIR OWN ACTIONS, not just those of the police. (and if it’s not, it should be)

Hey, can we clear something up? These players are NOT “protesting the anthem” — they are staging a protest DURING the anthem. These things are wildly different. And if people can't see the difference, then they're fucking stupid.

This makes me wish that Payton Manning would do the same thing right now, so he would no longer pop up on my TV screen every 30 goddamn seconds pitching insurance or Buicks or historically shitty pizza.

As soon as they announced they were going to do something but hadn’t decided on what, this became the worst sort of protest. They said exactly nothing, and talk about the ‘protest’ itself has overshadowed whatever their message was going to be right from the beginning.

I feel like the guys kneeling and holding their hands over their hearts were hedging their bets.

Can I just point out that Kaepernick is acting with the greatest amount of “true patriotism” of anyone involved in this “LOOK AT ME!” shitshow?

The gesture said nothing of significance. They didn’t pick a side on police brutality and racism. The Seahawks remained neutral, which is a lot like saying nothing at all.

Man this is tough. Movies like this have the potential to be culturally important. More impactful than the trillions of superhero films and anything Woody Allen has made in the last few years. The truth is that Hollywood houses a lot of bigots, racists, sex offenders and the like. They just haven’t been found out yet.

The side-eye Moss gave Dilfer during his Kaepernick rant was the absolute highlight of the show.

Can’t we make that for all white people when discussing anything about race? Unless they acknowledge “white privilege?”

Attn Trent Dilfer:

The only acceptable answer for a white man in this situation is as follows:

“Regardless of my own take on this situation, I am in no place to give my opinion, as I have not had to deal with racial prejudice at all during my lifetime. I am thankful to live in a country where a tasteful demonstration of

Trent Dilfer would be selling insurance in Visalia if a mostly black Ravens defense hadn’t carried his replacement-level ass to a Lombardi Trophy. He might want to sit this one out.
