Based on other info out there this is looking more like of a case of classic pilot error mixed with some face saving on their (the pilots) part.

Depending if they can charge overnight & package volume - a Gen 1 volt. The hatch is bigger than it looks especially with the rear seats folded down. 

If this isn’t a boat then I am curious how RVs will be classified.
