I was in engineering school about 15 years ago, and a bunch of classmates from Hong Kong made a significant chunk of change bringing over textbooks we were assigned. It was ridiculous, the price difference — like $30 for a HK paperback version of Sedra & Smith's Microelectronic Circuits versus $130 in the campus

heh... this is kind of like ordering at a Chinese restaurant. If their menu is 500 items long, chances are pretty good you don't have to adhere to it. Lots of the time I don't even look at it — if it's likely they have the ingredients to make whatever I want on hand, I'll order it.

@jc364: I think any oily substance will work. I've used olive oil for this.

I work at home and the thing I hate most is not being able to leave work stress at the office because it is IN MY FREAKING HOUSE.

@Lisa Hoover: Same here. Music with lyrics (in a language I understand) will completely derail any writing/language-based tasks. But for any thinking task, listening to music is as distracting as someone talking to me. I prefer quiet when I work. If I could kill the ambient fan noise, I would.

I use rubber bands. Free and easily removable.

The easiest frozen snack ever is frozen grapes. Pick them off the stem, wash them, freeze them. They have the exact same texture as popsicles.

Chopsticks:
