So which is it? Do they need help installing the ‘wells’ (which are actually boreholes) or can they do it on their own? Aid work is messy, and PCVs are taught to identify people who will work best with them in local communities (‘counterparts’) that will continue these projects after the volunteer is gone. You

There are other things that go into building a school other than construction. One of my friends was in the PeaceCorps and helped build a school (I cant remember where) and she pretty much just painted interior and exterior walls. She also helped bring in the furniture - desks/tables/shelving etc.

They’re both great in their respective ways.

Ah, a well expert I see.

Yeah the ‘Africa’ thing is dumb, but tbf whenevet I told people in the US that I volunteered in Zambia I usually had to qualify it with the continent.

Former Peace Corps volunteer here. If your friend acted like she literally built everything herself then yeah, she sucks. If you hated on her for setting up schools (probably using local laborers) then you’re the shitty person.

Do you think all construction workers know all those things? Sometimes people are just labor.

Hahahahahahaaha.

Isaac, what you (and your co-host) just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points,

Pssst gay people are still sexual

Fun fact, I grew up with the Stacks. Mr.and Mrs. Stack worked the parent volunteers jobs at the Catholic school his kids and I went to. His son Michael and I were classmates and played soccer together. We always had free Dick’s waterbottles and the like on field day and each sports season.

I studied art history and have worked in museums for over a decade. It’s safe to say I am very much entrenched in and familiar with the art world. I am the first to object when people immediately write off an artwork because it doesn’t fit their uninformed idea of what art is and should be. This is not the case,

Oh can you give a list of things ANYONE can comment on? And a guide on your pre-approved opinions? I don’t want to come off as uninformed.

I’ll stick with common sense and the evidence of my own eyes, thanks anyway, self-proclaimed expert

People like you are why most laymen believe artists/those in the art world are pretentious douches simply trying to sell blank white canvases all the time.

“it’s good, you’re just not smart enough”

But it is causing people to leave the site and comment less frequently as evidence by these threads that pop up on every SNS.

Yeah, here’s my problem. I’m sorry about the trolls, but maybe don’t jump into every fucking comment thread, AND create your own thread, to let everyone know about your trolls and how bravely you’re soldiering on in the comments of an article about Larry Nassar? Like maybe take a step back and think “my voice is not
