A reputable breeder who cared for the genetic line of the animals would never sell to a pet store. Reputable breeders care about where and to WHOM their puppies go - not who can walk into a store with enough cash to purchase.

Please name the stores you're talking about. I've heard many pet stores make these claims, and have yet to see a single one that after investigation, wasn't found out to be full of shit.

Super duper not okay. There are reputable rescues and shelters that work with pet stores (the big chain ones usually, like Petco and Petsmart) to advertise their pets up for adoption are fine (and this is broadly promoted through the store).
