If I may add, NPR’s Throughline is absolutely amazing. Pretty much every episode I go back and listen to, or create a transcription to make sure I have all the words. In this current time with specific groups trying to erase or suppress parts of history they don’t like, Throughline draws that line from the past

If you’re going to have a heading called “What is considered an impulse purchase” you might consider actually delving into the details and not just have a parenthetical definition of “unplanned”.

Besides those items listed above...I know I’m in a quality cocktail (or beer) bar when:

No-class-answer time: I have Miss Vicky’s pressure cooking cookbook for my instant pot, “Easy meals with 5 ingredients or less”, one handwritten chocolate chip cookie recipe copied from an ancient Betty Crocker cookbook (the back of the page is covered in notes on different cookie adjustments), and one binder with the

  • What was your very first cookbook? It was an old Betty Crocker ring bound cookbook. I used to make the Hamburger Stroganoff way too often.

Very first: A Scholastic Charlie Brown cookbook from about 1970, that I tracked down as an adult. The recipe for applesauce pie is actually worthwhile.

I, like many others, started with the Joy of Cooking, but it was the earlier version where, halfway through a recipe, it would tell you to combine with some other recipe you hadn’t realized you needed to cook. Or you needed a stale beer or something. I think the first one that kind of got me excited was the Silver

Smirnoff and vanilla beans is what it takes to extract your own and a LOT cheaper than $10 for a 4 oz bottle. Extracting vanilla is fall off the log simple to produce a superior product with lots of DIY available

I’m big on ground mustard seed. Much like bay leaves, ground mustard adds some subtle notes to lots of things.

I get tired of anything after two days, so I have to keep it moving. The people at the grocery store think I hang out there

PB&J, Apple, Oatmeal (home cooked) and some kind of veggie

I don’t know when this freckle on my elbow became kind of flaky and weird, but now that I do know, I probably should get it looked at. Just because I didn’t notice it earlier doesn’t mean it still isn’t a problem to be dealt with.

Yeah, this one needs to stay up because nothing, and I mean nothing, better captures white music than this statue. It’s all there.. overlord white man triumphantly self-satisfied with his own negro playing songs to make mighty white man feel better yes, but mostly to make mighty white man reel in hard owned money

How long are we betting on that account existing after today?

I did, though this was before I drove a stick. Also, Minnesota roads are 100% better in the snow than DC’s roads because Minnesota snow plow crews are bad-ass.

This:

I hate to say it, because it seems so obvious, but also to drive with your lights on, i can't tell how many times when its raining/snowing and people are driving around with no lights 0n. its less about headlights, and more about the tail lights and person behind you being able to see you.
