I am late to the Orange is the New Black party, and was just watching it last night, thinking, Jason Biggs' character is so awful and annoying. And so, life imitates tv.

Convoluted story: I have an African American friend whose liberal-minded family member works for Beck. He told the liberal when he hired her that his show is theater, and he doesn't believe half the stuff he says — it's a character. This comment about MHP seems like a stab at sincerity. He's still odious, though, as…
Well, you are a delightful person. I can see why you like that show. Finger and fuck on!
Did you have a bad day? Sheesh.
Because 2 Broke Girls wasn't on at the time.
My kids are are tweens, so they are sometimes up at that time, though usually in bed by 9. Lots of kids are still up at 8:30 pm, getting home from sports, music lessons etc. When you have older siblings in the family, or parents who work late, dinner time can get pushed to 8 pm or so. I've never seen this show, nor do…
Um, maybe this doesn't occur to people who don't have kids, but I'd like to not have my kids acccidentally stumble upon "fingering" in prime time. We have parental controls on our tv, but they are of course imperfect. It's impossible to remove all access to media unless you are Amish or something, so it seems…
So, a comedian sings "one of these things is not like the other" about a black baby adopted into the Romney family, and this should be seen as a legitimate and valuable critique of Romney's past policy positions. I'm sorry, if you endorse this kind of mocking of a famous transracial adoptive family, you endorse…
Thank you, LoSuki.
Ugh. This IS a random attack. Criticize Romney the public figure, not his kids who choose to stay out of the limelight but happen to adopt a child, not his grandkids who happen to be adopted. Criticize systemic racism and it's role in adoption, but don't mock a particular adoption when the particulars of that case are…
I hear you on the systemic racism, but random attacks on adoptive families, even the Romneys, are inappropriate when outsiders have no way of knowing the specifics of a particular adoption that caused that child to be placed outside his or her family of origin.
Shit People Say to Transracial Families
Yes, the white savior mentality exists, but its hardly the overriding motivation for adoption in most cases, and we have no way of knowing if it was a factor in the Romneys' decision. Most transracial families I know work at keeping their kids in multiracial settings, connected to birth families if that is an option…
You have absolutely no idea why the Romney family adopted. I hate Romney, but to suggest that this adoption was motivated to gain "cred" is outrageous and offensive to all adoptive families, who hear this shit ALL THE TIME, even if they aren't public figures. Seriously awful comment.
where is Glozell on your list? My kids fave comedienne has 2 mil + subscribers
I'm really amazed by all the comments on this and related articles that say, essentially, This disaster was a long time ago. Get over it. The families of the Challenger crew, and members of the public who remember the tragedy vividly, have said they feel upset. I'm trying to teach my kids that when someone feels upset…
She should marry him instead.
"Pink is my signature color. Blush and bashful."
I saw this movie last week with my 12 and 10 year old daughters, and their only comment was, "The snowman was so cute!" It was nice to see the girl be the hero, even if everyone in the film was lily white except the reindeer.
Point taken.
