No, I'm a scientist and I actually think that the misuse of antibiotics is a huge public health issue, and along with anti-vaccination idiots, the sort of nonsense that's probably going to end our civilization. But trying to teach the American public science is harder than teaching a dog Cantonese, and so faced with

Yeah, we've gone well past a discussion about a particular example in the article and into full-blown

She never said her perspective was "more relevant." She brought it up because she figured that you'd ask her what she could possibly know about this.

LOL, that's adorable. If it offends YOU so much that you're getting some static for making this about your injured fanfeels, maybe YOU should take your own advice. While we're at it, don't go lecturing people about being offended when you liken someone's side-eye to your beloved series to a pitchfork carrying mob.

Gads, thanks so much for saying this. I am SO SICK of people saying GRRM is good at writing women. Everything you said and more.

I love how the first comment is some stupid nerd sperg about a stupid TV show. To quote William Shatner: GET A LIFE!

haha, except it's "err."

Okay, for someone claiming to be a book fan, the names are spelled Daenerys and Cersei, and Ros isn't even a character GRRM created. She was created for the show. She never appears in the books. Ygritte is a great character in the books, but she's very one dimensional. The show actually gave the character much more

Tolkien's women are even worse, you'll get no argument from me there.

I have read Martin's books multiple times, and I stand by what I said 100%. I read them too, Dany is my favorite character. But that doesn't stop me from recognizing that EVERY SINGLE ONE of Martin's female characters is built up from fictional and pseudo-historical archetypes.

If this were an article about Game of Thrones it would be appropriate to mention this. It isn't. This is an article about the rampant rape, abuse, and harassment of women. The fact that your first thought upon reading this was to get upset about the author getting a fictional character's name wrong is pretty screwed

Ok. I said I'm a fan, and here's a bit of proof - in an interview he gave before they started filming the HBO series, Martin himself said he regretted making Dany so young for that scene. The author himself is ashamed of it!!!

I get that you're a fan, and I'm a fan, too, but that scene is so problematic. Like, yikes. She's 14. It's messed up.
