I found it wasn’t all too dissimilar - at least it was a far cry from previous Metroids on how she was portrayed. In fact, I find it narratively believable of Fusion being after Other M, plot wise. The bigger jump is from all the other Metroids to Fusion and Other M, really.

I think it looks like Shadow Complex, only better and with less military masturbation.

It can be like another Mighty Gunvolt Burst (which recently came out and is excellent and everything Mighty No. 9 should have been).

You still don’t get the point. Yeah it’s poorly written, but the point is that Other M gets more criticism than Fusion, which was generally liked, despite having similar problems in the narrative.

Yes, the locking off was ridiculous. But it was mostly a gameplay thing.

No disagreement there. I’m just saying that Other M didn’t come out of nowhere, it was already hinted at from Fusion on.

That just reminds me of my experience of the original Metroid II. That game was not easy...

To be honest, the depiction in Other M was not THAT different from Metroid Fusion.

The original was pretty amazing, actually, considering the technical limitations.

To be honest, ever since the DS Castlevanias, I’ve found that having the map on one of the two screens at all times was an awesome feature.

As I never compare the two and I will still avoid to compare the two, I wouldn’t say what you mention was shortcomings.

I admit I never played MML, but I never expected it to be even comparable in any way to Metroid Prime. Or Metroid in general. Even though it’s called “Metroidvania”, Metroid and Castlevania are totally different experiences also.

But you don’t feel isolated in MM Legends, you have your friends and all. A vital part of the Metroid experience (not Metroidvania experience; we’re talking solely Metroid here) is the feeling of isolation and loneliness as you explore... with the only other beings there being the flora and fauna of a hostile planet.

And even worse, they might use the bugs and glitches that definitely will still be there (since it’s unfinished software, sometimes not even yet alpha status builds), and you know how in the past Nintendo’s copy protection has usually been circumvented by using software with glitches (in order to install homebrew,

It’s not a good idea to give people demo builds that are probably still ridden with lots of bugs (mostly because as from my own experiences, these things often are finished like, hours at max before the show starts) on their own retail machines.

No special days for business before it opens to the general public? That really sucks if you’re there for business. They should have learned that from Gamescom.

I want something in the style of A link between worlds, but with an actual new world. ALBW was good, but that the world was so familiar kind of removed a lot of the exploration for me.

How did Metroid Prime get into this discussion? The Metroid Prime series is as far removed from anything Megaman possible... it’s an isolative exporatory experience (well, ok, MP3 not so much in parts).

Yeah, true. It wasn’t as explorative as a true Metroidvania, though I believe there was still some incentive to retread old ground.

In a parallel dimension, Takahashi finished Xenogears completely, and made all the other episodes (Xenogears was episode 5 I believe) afterwards.
