More to the point, how does a telegram talking about how OTHER PEOPLE are excited mean that it was the first person to realize how good it was?

I don’t see how it’s a reversal. In 2006, they’re lauding the fact that Games Journalists finally manned up and stopped tolerating the bullshit fed to them by marketing arms of publishers, and instead acted like actual fucking journalists.
