You are exactly right and it is so enraging. That Trump is a racist is documented all the way back in the 70s. Just for one: He and his dad refused to rent to black people. It’s grotesque that people can even pretend that his racism is at all in question, regardless of his use of the n-word.
This will not be surprising to those of us who have been paying attention. If this video surfaces, it’s not going to cause him to lose support with his base. The GOP only really lost their shit when he mentioned harrassing a white woman (as Black Twitter continues to point out.)

2 things I would stress to you at this point: Find a way to be able to drive yourself anywhere, any time. It’s important to have that sort of independence. Also: you have every right to be mad at him and not second guess yourself. He’s being callous and insensitive.
