I think the click-baity part refers to the fact that the passports weren’t revoked but not renewed. Although the article later says retroactively revoked so I am just confused.

Once again, Splinter uses a dishonest headline for clickbait. The Trump admin has not “revoked” any passports in the article. The truth is bad enough, no need to compete with Trump in a lying contest.

(It’s not technically wrong but it’s pretty woefully incomplete, as far as explanations go.) Still, I got the right understanding of it at some point!!
