These engines get the same fuel economy. Even a tuned 6.7 making 650 hp and 1,500 lb-ft of torque gets around the same fuel economy when not using all the power on tap. Even VW TDI engines get the same fuel economy as their ancestors while being able to produce almost double the power.

That’s exactly how I do it. Generally they’ll call either later that day or the next day with something close to what I offered. Not trying to play a game, just offering what I’d pay and that’s that.  Don’t like it or won’t come close ... have a nice day.

When I buy a used car, I balance the average market, regional conditions and how much the car is worth to me.

If I can’t balance it, I don’t buy it.

If Car X is worth $20k to me and a local dealer has it, in acceptable mileage and condition for $20k, I might haggle a little but in the end I know I’ll buy it if it passes…
