“Her”. And she’s not deluding anyone, least of all herself. Let’s not play this bullshit game where we pretend there’s some sort of mass worldwide psychosis going on. Being trans is not being delusional. If you’re so interested in “what’s going on here”, then the World Professional Association for Transgender Health

Agreed, but also worth pointing out, it’s fairly impossible to get out of the greys these days on Kotaku and Giz.

I other words:

Fuck NC.

Just want to say, absolute maximum respect. I honestly don’t have much of meaning to contribute, but you deserve praise for what you’ve done.

Good for her.

I’m a huge champion for transgender rights and lgbtq rights in general. It happens to be my area of expertise as a psychotherapist. Good for her for being herself. I’ve met a great deal of trans folks playing video games. Unofficially, I’ve helped connect them to resources for hormone access etc. As depressing as this

Yes, Virginia, trans men do exist! Some trans men you may know from popular culture include Tiq Milan, Jake Graf, Poppy Z. Brite, Amos Mac, Chris Mosier, Thomas Beatie, Scott Moore, Stephen Whittle, Chase Strangio, Buck Angel, Ian Harvie, Chaz Bono...

In addition to the few things that got mentioned in the article, there are a few areas about coming out as trans that didn’t get mentioned in this, that were probably weighing pretty heavily on her while she was trying to decide what to do.

Adding to what the other replier said, Trans Men also tend to be less noticable because when they don’t pass people assume they are butch lesbians and when they do, people assume they are cis men.

There’s a fair amount of garbage in the grays. Thankfully not much of it has floated up to visibility.

The reverse happens quite a lot, yes. It’s not made as much of, possibly because our society views it as more “shocking” for someone to admit to being feminine than to admit to being masculine, but trans men are just as common as trans women.

I’m pretty surprised. The worst I’ve seen so far is a few “who the fuck cares,” which is ignorant but extremely mild compared to what I expected.

Would happily support any content creator who happens to transition while I enjoy their work (Only one has done this so far, but he writes review articles, not a youtube person/twitch streamer). I imagine the quality of fun stuff they do would only go up when the person is actually happy with how they look and feel.

Good for her! It seems a pretty low bar to say “they’re so bothered by me that they leave but at least they don’t rip my head off first” but baby steps I guess.

Hmm...

Awesome post, and congratulations to DistractedElf.

I have a lot of transgender friends.

Remember guys. If any of the people in the grays say anything nasty don’t reply to ‘em. Just flag ‘em and move on.

Good for her, I hope these kinds of things get more visibility. The more they see the light, the less we can stop hating on each other. Games should be enjoyed by everyone
