I understand the desire for more color, but all the playfulness feels kinda... forced? It’s difficult to really explain, but there’s this sort of “corporate-approved” feel to everything I’ve seen in Fortnite.

For me, the reason I play PUBG but have no interest in Fortnite is twofold.

Without the storm, the game would become near-impossible. Someone could camp on the ass-end of the map and the last remaining player would spend hours looking for them. You need the storm so the endgame doesn’t drag on forever.

Which is probably why it seems they just translated it really quickly and slapped it on the iOS and Android stores. The blood color was likely a very simple change, but they didn’t have enough time to replace the disappearing bodies.

This is a port of the Chinese mobile version, complete with some of the China-mandated censorship like disappearing bodies (though blood has been added back in). That version launched back in February, so if anything, Fortnite is responding to PUBG.

Just import it. Switch games are region-free.
