I still have an ipod shuffle. Haven’t used it for a while (no subway commute for more than two years), but it’s there with it’s 2GB memory... The cable died some years ago, but I still could find replacements on the web...

could be dead battery on the sensor (don’t know if all sensors have batteries)... I got replacements for mine on amazon. Cheap...

Never had one myself either. But I guess you do have some brand preference on the stuff you do buy. But that’s marketing... selling you stuff you don’t need at the highest price they can convince you is a good price... and convincing you that my crap is better than the other crap out there.
