T'is true. but then what is the point of 5 valves/ cylinder? if they made the 3 intake valves smaller to fit the cylinder head, and left the 2 exhaust ones, wouldn't their be only a marginal difference in flow? so whats the point of all that extra headache and engineering?

Why would you say that? With 4 valves per cylinder, there is an equal amount of air coming in for the intake stroke, and equal amount of exhaust gasses leaving during the exhaust stroke. Wouldn't 5 valves/cylnder throw it off?
