Isn’t the leaf spring on Corvettes mounted transversely, basically acting as an anti-roll bar? It seems to have little to do with the traditional use of leaf spring suspensions.

Last weeks Indy-car race had more action than a 5 F1 races.
All race cars have a delta wing chassis for aerodynamics - thin, long nose and a huge kaboos with the engine & drivetrain. It’s the wheels & suspension sticking out that finally deviate from Nissan’s delta wing racer.
The overall width of the front wing is probably rule limited.
I actually like watching IndyCar races more than Formula1. I may catch flak for that, but I just do. When IRL went to all-ovals it got a little bit boring, but it’s not that way anymore. Still, the ovals are in there and I like the combination.
Look at other pictures, the vertical endplate does have a curve to it for this purpose.
