You can definitely see the influence of Edwards on this film, especially in the use of scale

Horror fans who said The Witch was boring are pretty much the worst
I'm not trying to be classic AVClub snarky here, but man, I've seen fan films with better cinematography than that. It looks like they shot it in a backyard with a camera they bought at Best Buy.
Frankly, it's the only Linklater movie that I thoroughly enjoy.
I was just about to comment the same. Benchley's novel is a masterclass in superfluous subplots.
You have a surprising amount invested in this considering you don't follow celebrity bs as you claimed.
"legally stated" is not the same as objectively determined. Even if Dr Luke was acquitted in a court of law, that doesn't mean he didn't do it; all it means is that court found insufficient evidence, beyond a shadow of a doubt, to convict. But, by all means, continue to dismiss people's reaction as "mob mentality."
This looks like the most millenial thing possible.
I just mentally substitute the Internet's recut of the ending when I think back on the series finale. But that still doesn't quite fix the Barney-Robin nonsense
I wish the Boondock Saints didn't exist. It's the Deadpool of the 90s
So much talent and so much energy but that voice. It's impossible for me like Rush with that voice
Many directors start out with commercials while some continue to do them to stretch their creative legs, as it were. Consider Tony Scott's amazing Saab commercial:

so edgy and cool. Do you have any sweet Lewinsky or Judge Ito jokes?
Why don't they get J. D. Fortune, previously of INXS and the terrific (read: deplorable) TV show Rock Star: INXS?
+1 and to add, the idea that "might makes right" has been a cinematic dogma since the medium's inception
Watched Jeanne Dielman for the first time last year and holy shit I never knew watching a person peel potatoes for 20 minutes could be so riveting. It's such a great film because it teaches you how to watch it, teaches you how to realign your preconceived beliefs on narrative. It's all in her face. I ended up inspired…
Sometimes in the noise of the "only 90s kids will remember this" there's something that hearkens back to the early 90s. Most of that 90s Buzzfeed nostalgia shit is aimed at people in their mid to late 20s, so it's all late 90s stuff. But this, this is something I lived through.
I don't even understand the "tony isn't in the suit enough." WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN? What percentage of the film do people need to see him in the suit? What's the golden ratio for them? What metric do they use to determine it? How reliable is this metric? Is their test of the ratio valid and does it hold up under…
There's a bunch of neat shots in Unbreakable too, like when the camera spins with the comic book. It's easily M Night's best movie by far, if only because of the formal achievements.
Didn't that story happen tho? I distinctly remember the issue: Bagley on flashbacks depicting Jessica as mindless for the villain
