That’s my parents’ pet reason for trying to convince me. It’s doubly frustrating because it also manages to remind me I owe them. I can’t think of a more selfish thing to do than to have a child for that reason.

That makes my blood boil every time. My actual favorite is the immediate assumption that I hate all children. I love kids and am great with them.. for under an hour.

I live in NY too, but still feel pressure - mostly it’s from my family, but I have also felt ‘othered’ at work by people with children and continuously have people try to convince me otherwise when I say I don’t want children. I agree it’d be worse in a less urban community because at least I have child-free friends…
