Why is Florida trying to find a way to allow drivers to be more visible when doing something that is inherently unsafe, especially when it goes against normal protocol?

Unless your shit’s fucked up, keep the flashers off.

Turn your lights on though. I can’t tell you how many times I see people driving in the fog or other inclement weather, no lights on.  Partial blame goes to automatically backlit gauge clusters.  My car has no backlight unless the lights are on.

Rear fog lights are allowed in the US but only on one side and there are already far too many people that drive around with them on all the time.

At this point, NJ, NY, and PA have introduced a toll-by-plate system at the major crossings.

I also just do not understand the appeal of an all glass roof.  I have had a couple of vehicles with panoramic sunroofs and they are nice enough on the right days, but just miserable on a hot sunny day.  I can’t imagine trying to live with that and no way to avoid being blasted by the sun.

Also, their lifespan was less than 1/2 of modern tires. It’s not far off to say that some modern oil change intervals might be longer than the life of an old bias ply tire!

Yes! Thank you! When I’m eventually forced to get an EV, the only ones I’m considering are the ones that have actual buttons/knobs on the center console (and that goes for non-electric vehicles as well).

Tire Pressure Monitoring. Because of how often I had flats and had to change my tires when I was younger mostly due to working in retail/food service where the parking lots are full of broken glass and what not, I’m real paranoid about my tires. I have a hand drill sized compressor in my car that I pull over and use

Modern tires.

I’m gonna go with actual knobs, switches and dials to control HVAC and Stereo adjustments. I didn’t realize these were a safety feature until the idiot automakers started replacing them with touchscreens.

Bluetooth. The biggest safety feature is the eyes of the driver. Being able to push a button, call someone, get directions or the like without moving your eyes off the road is critical.

Waitaminute ... this feels like you should be asking someone else.

Standard equipment passenger side mirror.

I second the convex mirrors. As a truck driver, they’re indispensable. Those, and heated mirrors. Every vehicle I buy must have heated mirrors - it keeps the mirrors clear in the rain and snow... I wish manufacturers would a)make convex mirrors standard, b)make mirror heat standard, and c)ensure the convex mirrors are

I agree, its taking a very big chance with your life to put a bike on a public road- There are drunks and methheads driving out there, and since the cops cant stop them all - i simply wont ride a bike on public streets.

While I agree with much of this, many people bicycling on public roads are not doing it recreationally. They’re using the bike as transportation for shopping, commuting, etc.

But you’re ok with the drunks enjoying the roads though?

Large 4 lane highway at that point with a very wide shoulder for bikes, it also is along a greenbelt with bike paths so it gets quite a bit of road bike traffic. It isn’t one of the Colorado bike lanes that isn’t well designed, this is out in a suburb.

Given that a Tesla 100kWh battery pack is ~1200 lbs, we can assume that GM’s 200kWh battery pack is approximately 2500 ~ 3000lbs. That leaves approximately 6,000 lbs of other stuff. So is the thing made of depleted uranium or what?

I have gone on record many times with my opinion that rally drivers and not F1 are the best drivers on the planet. But if we want to talk ultimate courage, I think it goes to the co-drivers putting their lives in the hands of their partner. I know the co-driver isn’t Finnish in this case, but that “Dear God” is the
