I'm not saying she shouldn't have had her child taken away. I'm not ascribing rational thought to her decisions. I'm saying, it's far more complicated than "my kid has bruises and burns, I must take him to the ER." Sometimes, things are complicated. And I understand that's not a popular viewpoint but really, do you

I am glad you had the ability and awareness to leave and protect your son. But please understand that this ability to see the forest-through-the-trees is not always available to everyone.

Privilege, you have spoken. Women who are single or POC or lower socio-economic status or between jobs or on welfare or with abusive partners or any combination of the above are all women who think that every time they bring their child to school, or god forbid, the hospital will have their children taken away.

I'll be sad if they split. two funky puzzle pieces found each other, let's not let Hollywood soak them in water.

I actually like her for connecting gossip to real actual cultural trends. Yes, it's just gossip but really it IS a reflection on who and what and which the current culture finds important. I appreciate that she points it out. There is a reason why closeted celebrities are news; why young women are always portrayed as

I am so sad that Mandy Moore - who was not only in Saved!, but also the adaptation of TWO Sarah Dessen novels into one movie, in which she had the most amazing pixie cut nobody else ever pulled off, including me circa 2004, AND ALSO a weird movie with Elijah Wood and Franka Potente - is having a hard time right now.

You clearly need to see Mandy Moore in Saved!, one of the greatest movies of all time.

That guy definitely works/ worked in hospitality himself, only a person who has been there themselves would consider the importance of the extra topping fee.

I would have stuck my fingers in my vagina and painted fuck you with period blood on the wall, but I'm an animal.

I do wish that doctors were more careful about following up with patients who are prescribed opioids. They are hugely addictive and it's really easy to get an Rx.

ITS LAIKE RAAYEEEAAAAYN...

I'm going through her archive and she is very straightforward and genuine and her review of the dining options at the MSP Airport is especially brilliant. Though I am bummed to find out she isn't a heavy drinker because she'd be super fun to share a few a few cold ones with.

You forgot York!

I like that plain midwestern writing style. Iowa particularly cranks out some really good writers. I took some creative writing courses at San Francisco State and there was just so much airy fairy psychobabbly bullshit I couldn't stand it.

I like the wordplay of "foaming" at the mouth at the lack of latte milk froth. She's a gem.

Not even a joke, this lady is a far better writer than 90% of the people** currently in my advanced novel-writing workshop at a Canadian university that shall remain nameless*

Jessica,

People are kind of dumb like that across the board.

I was a fat girl in middle and high school.

Have you never been hit on by someone you aren't attracted to? It's awkward and nerve-wracking, and it puts you in a bad position. There is no right answer, just a series of increasingly wrong ones.
