I’m tired of firing being the only, rarely used option for violent cops. Even the few times they do get fired, they immediately get rehired by a neighboring township, no matter how hideous their conduct was before.

I mean, it also definitely sounds like he’s getting conflicting instructions from two different cops so maybe he was just scared out of his wits and didn’t know what to do.

Technically, there’s nothing in the law that could prevent it. Trump could accuse him of terrorism and he could be shipped off to Guantanamo, no questions asked, and no right to a lawyer. Habeus corpus was suspended by Congress years ago. 

Normally I’d like to agree with you but I see no reason to trust anything being done by ICE, Border Patrol, or any agent that reports to DHS. It’s a cabinet department wholly under executive office control and who’s council is made up completely of executive branch appointees.
