As a Lakers fan, I’d love for the worst championship head coach to be anybody else, especially either Jones or Rivers. But, it’s probably Westhead. Outside of the Lakers, Westhead only managed a 72-174 record in the NBA. Fitch is overrated, but still was a better coach than Westhead, Jones, and Rivers, IMO.

The thing that the Lakers desperately needed (and still need) the most was (is) defense. I’m not sure either Russell or Bazingus were the best option at the time. If they were pretty sure they were going to get Hibbert anyway (which is why I think they weren’t considering Okafer), they probably should have drafted or…
