I helped a friend replace the little gear in his, and can confirm that it is as very weird system.

My timing chain is slowly but surely eating its guides and tensioners, and the A/C has been busted for 2+ years.

I’ll put it this way - if the HP/Tq was more like 250/250 at a price within a couple grand of where it is now, there’s a very good chance a BRZ would be in my driveway right now.

I would say it was on the lemon-y side of the scale, in terms of used police cars. I don’t plan on getting another one, but it isn’t necessarily because of how much work this one has taken to stay on the road.

One of the rear wheel arches is almost entirely fiberglass, and I can put my hand through the fender. Every panel has some rust. The A/C is shot, and the dumbass before me left the lines hanging open for years so the whole system needs replaced (I have half of the parts). I’ve put the purchase price of the car in to

My 2002 P71 has 176k on it and, of course, no hour meter (it’s still an analog odometer!)

If I were to spend the price of a new A4 Avant on a new car, it’s not what I’d get, but damn it looks pretty good

Exactly - I never said it’d be a good rally vehicle, just a fun one :D

I’ve never seen skid plates for them but it’d be worth look in to. If not, it’s not too difficult (and probably way cheaper) to just weld up some steel and find a nice spot to bolt it on.

It makes sense (as much as a stupid-for-fun project can make sense) - cram a 5 or 6 speed in it (not uncommon on the forums), figure out a way to lift it maybe an inch or two, stick on skid plates, truck tires, and go!

I have a beat-to-hell P71 and fully intend, once I’m done with it, if it still runs, to build it into a rally car just for fun.

I believe you mean Hellkitten

When I’m done daily driving it (soon) and have space to do so (unknown timeframe) I intend to turn my P71 into a rally car for s&g

And your supplemental income comes from working from home, making thousands every week?

My dad will, about once a year, wash his trucks (work trucks) with pretty much straight Kerosene on a rag, then rinse. It can’t be good for them, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t get them spotless. The nicer of the two he waxes afterwards, and it turns out nice. The other one gets to wait until next year to be

This, yes.

Same thing here, was really hoping it would be something I could pick up some time

I’ve driven my Crown Vic through the past few winters here in Erie PA, zero issues at any point. How? Snow tires (and a dash of knowing-how-to-drive).

Yep, and they’re still building more things and planning even more. The dry campus policy is really only a suggestion - they genuinely don’t care if you’re drinking on campus as long as everyone in the room is 21 and you’re not causing trouble. The policy if they catch you is pretty much a literal slap on the wrist,

2011 - Today (I graduate tomorrow). It’s a shame to be leaving, it’s a nice place. That said, I look forward to starting my job and getting on with my life, aka buying more cars.
