I don’t think they are obfuscating it - the intent this time seems to be to emulate the kinds of ARPGs where you can essentially complete a character before hitting the level cap - PoE does this quite a bit, as did D2 back in the day, so it feels like more returning to that kind of design.
It seems like the fundamental problem is that they designed themselves into a corner with the paragon system redesign, because there is functionally no endgame once you’re done with it (aka, hit level 100).
If you haven’t tried Paradise Killer, please try it out. It is so batshit crazy, and exploring the eerie-quiet world is so meditative.
I’ve never played it, but that’s hilarious. A character being gay as a big plot twist sounds like something from the ‘60s or ‘70s.
‘barely above NES’ graphics? How old are you? Because in 1991 it was a massive jump in graphics compared to NES.
This is waaaaay overstating the fluidity of 30 FPS. There is no amount of acclimation in which I stop noticing and wishing I had more frames. There’s an acclimation from “this is actively disorienting and looks like dogshit” to “I can more or less tolerate this and it looks like dogshit”
EDIT: And also, on the movie…
I always love it when developers explain the reasons behind decisions because its both very informative, and listening to capital ‘G’ Gamer accusations is exhausting. If you ask Twitter, 30fps is becase devs just need to move the FPS slider on the Engine Screen up to ‘60', and refusing to do so are Devs being LAZY.
Honestly, they’re more “great when they came out” than now.
The original was basic as hell as far as story and gameplay, but done well at a time when RPG games widely available had shitty visuals or were more complicated than most casual players wanted to deal with.
The sequels for SNES were absolutely amazing AT THE…
Hell yeah glad the director likes 12! It’s my favorite though I enjoyed all the FF games and I feel like 9 and 10 are pretty high up there too
IV has a great, really charming story, once you get past the “barely above NES” graphics. Definitely has some of my fav character moments from the series.
I’ve always been alright being the one guy in the room who’s favorite was FFVIII... That said, I do love V, VI and VII.
I can’t believe THAT of all things killed perma-killed him. Poor guy.
I have bounced off FF12 hard several times over the past 18 years. But the people who like it REALLY like it.
BUTZ! BUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTZ!
if the servers are anything like D3, i think most hardcore characters are going to be killed by disconnect.
FFXII represent
It’s Quinn so I don’t feel bad for a second, dude is a total loser.
ok, a druid killed by the environment does strike me as unusually ironic.
Though if he does eventually get to level 100 with a new character the victory might be all the sweeter.
