I posted this as a reply to someone else, but thought I’d share in general. One of my favorite ghost stories: The Ghost of Rue Jacob

There was this really great story on This American Life about a woman who lives in Paris and manages to snag a beautiful huge apartment. Except she realizes after months of living there that it’s haunted. It’s a great story and am so bummed I couldn’t find it to post on here. Maybe someone else remembers it?

Pick a place. Quit your job. Buy your plan ticket. Go. Make expat friends and find expat resources. Find a job. Any job. Live indefitinely in your new country. I did it.

I'm an expat living in Chile. I know many expats knocked up by a Chilean but, alas, none are miners (far as I know). :(

Congrats to both of you! I remember when you posted some of his videos on Jez and that was the 1st I've ever heard of him. I haven't stopped watching him since! My bf and I both really enjoy his standups and are thrilled to hear he'll be the new Daily Show host! Maybe you'll make an appearance as a correspondent?

Me too! I did manage to drag my bf to Crossfit and he did it for 2 months but now he wants nothing to do with it. Not his jam. I get it.

I loved this story. Also, I love the 60s. Wish I was alive then!

Let's please stop calling it Spanish. Chingon is a Mexican word. It's like saying bae is English. It's American. I replied to you on a single post (as opposed to a chain) about this but it's still in the gray. :(

That would be because it is not a Spanish word. It's Mexican slang.

Now playing

I hate to be a killjoy (actually no I don't), but "chingar" is NOT a Spanish word. It is a MEXICAN word. No other Latin American country uses the word, and certainly the Spanish do not.

I was like 3 or 4 years old when I first saw this. I used to ask my mom to put the VHS on all the time. The thing is I was totally scared of Beetlejuice! But I couldn't stop watching it! I told my mom as an adult that the movie scared me. Needless to say, she was surprised. I was so weird. But I guess I connected with

I love Khloe and think she's great. But Kourtney is the best Kardashian.

What an amazing video. We need this in Santiago! People lack common subway etiquette (e.g., letting people off before you get on).

Weirdest thing to happen to me was on Boston's T (orange line). I got on and sat down to an elderly lady. I had a book open and was texting at the same time. She started to speak silently to me, as in she was just moving her mouth and starting at me. I said, excuse me? And she kept doing it. Then, it became a whisper

This gave me a major case of the LOLZ. I currently live in Santiago, Chile and there are many Aussies here. They love their flat whites and have made cafés here just to cater to them. I am yet to try one but now that I know what it is, I defintely will. Also, I am a coffee snob and not ashamed to admit it!

He is smart, well-spoken, funny, handsome, and has a great accent. Excuse me for a second...

:( I chose the name for my younger sister - Sofia. Maybe it's more original because it's with an f? We are Hispanic so that is the Spanish way to spell it. And it was before the name was popular. I specifically remember saying, "I want her name to be Sofia. Like a princess!"

At first, I was bummed this is a "thing" now since I've wanted a short wedding dress since like 10 years ago. But maybe this is good? When I do married I'll have more options? We shall see...
