Things that are crude and lazy can still have value to some. I would agree with you that Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is crude throughout, and extremely lazy in it’s final act, but it’s still a lot of fun, and extremely funny in parts. And it doesn’t have any of the problematic gender politics of Chasing Amy or

Chasing Amy? Really? I thought we had all finally come to realize that that movie was incredibly misogynistic and dumb, and most importantly, not funny. I could have sworn there was an AV Club piece about the worst movies of the 90s that were originally well-received, and it was on it. It certainly deserves to be

Wow, didn’t realize that.  I have no idea what you are alluding to regarding Mrs. Wyden, but I do love the Strand!

Yes!  That was totally going to be my choice!  Except I didn’t want to deal with the draconian (for an iOS user) nomination requirements.

That Ron Wyden is a real decent guy.  I don’t live in Oregon, but I’ve seen him on CNN many times and his heart is clearly in the right place.  Never would have guessed he read Kotaku, though!

Everything a politician does is PR to a degree.  That’s what politics is.  That doesn’t mean they don’t mean what they say or have principles they believe in.

I wouldn’t worry about the landlord being upset over you nailing things to the wall. I’ve done that in all three NYC apartments I’ve lived in, and no one has ever cared. The leases said that I had to spackle over the holes in the walls, which I never did, and I was not charged in either of the apartments I moved out

Yes! Found my new Switch game. I finished Link’s Awakening and am almost done with Astral Chain, so this released at a very convenient time.

The Switch is fantastic for indie games that are in the style of older Nintendo action-adventures. Hollow Knight, Moonlighter, and Dead Cells all fit in that category and were fantastic experiences on the Switch for me. Also Wonder Boy and the Dragon’s Trap and the two Blaster Master Zero games, all fantastic. And

Any word of that?  I feel like a cliché asking this question every time they cover an interesting-looking indie game, so thanks for bringing it up.

This is the most perfect use of a meme I’ve seen in a while.  A perfect riff on the original joke.  Well played, Zack.

You sound like my therapist :)

Oh I am and I do. I was just trying to gently make the point that those words from OP don’t necessarily provide comfort in every case.

What if that’s not enough, though?  I often feel even worse when people offer similar words of comfort, because it makes me think I’m a bad person for being sad despite knowing what you say is true.

Awesome anecdote! Yeah, I have the FFIV sheet music as well. I actually went to grad school for composing, and I feel very strongly that Nobuo Uematsu, along with Koji Kondo, influenced my writing as much as anyone.

Long weekend for me, and my roommate and other closest friend are both out of town, so I’ll have plenty of time for more of the same from last weekend - Astral Chain, Persona 3 Portable, and Zeldas Link’s Awakening and Oracle of Ages. I also downloaded Don’t Starve on Switch recently, so I’ll probably put some time

I’ll celebrate by practicingDancing Mad”.  For those who play piano and were not aware, the FFVI Original Sound Version sheet music is full of excellent transcriptions of some of the best game music ever.

Here here.

Apparently the conditional tense is my new grammar pet peeve. I’ve been privately annoyed at least three times in the past week by professionally-written, published statements that include people using “was” when they should be using “were”. Anyone else feel that way, or am I just crazy? Yes, I realize those things

Thanks for being so vocal about this, Luke!
