How are you feeling about the lack of a map? I read a review on a site I trust less than this one that was pretty critical. Most of the criticisms sounded like they were issues of taste rather than flaws in the game, but the lack of a map was the one point they made that did concern me.

But that’s true of every console. It’s always the case that most of the great games available for a console are multiplatform, while a minority are exclusives. Just look at the Kotaku 12 Best Games lists (PS4 has half exclusives, half multiplats on that list, but when you include all the other great games not on the

I disagree that “no one bought Wii Sports with a Wii-in-box”. There were tons of non- and lapsed-gamers who only bought a Wii in order to play Wii Tennis or Bowling.

Totally forgot Okami HD was coming to the Switch soon. That will probably be what I spend the rest of my birthday eShop credit on. Either that or the Splatoon 2 DLC.

My choir performed this piece for our 2016 Holiday concert.  It was fantastic!  An epic arrangement that is not actually all that diffficult to learn.  Other than the learning to speak words in Swahili, of course.

That sounds about right.

Well as long as the sample was taken from the same population in both surveys, it’s still an impressive stat, and I think a reasonable point for disucssion...

That last stat is very impressive!  Do we think that is part of a trend, or an anomoly?  Is it because there’s been lots more in-depth coverage of that issue from great games media outlets like Kotaku?

As others have noted, the original game has a lot of slowdown.  So the question is: Do the other versions of the Legacy Collection have slowdown?  I would guess that they do.

That’s a grand oversimplification of people’s opinions, and it’s not the way you win elections. I agree with Tippi Gordon that yours would be a losing strategy. Not only that, the problem is bigger than Trump. If we are ever going to even attempt to heal the divisions in this nation, we can’t write off large

I only read the first paragraph because I don’t want anything about Hollow Knight to be spoiled. However, I did want to mention that this is one of the reasons I adored NieR: Automata. Everything video game-y about that game had a narrative explanation, and it made that game so much more immersive than almost any

Gotcha, totally understand. Thanks for that. Would that mean that a hypothetical Souls-like game can be assumed to have both a high level of difficulty and a “kill enemies-earn currency-level up/retrieve currency from point of death” gameplay loop?

Yeah, I love that the risk mechanic of Hollow Knight makes me think of Bloodborne, the one “Souls game” I’ve played. I’m in the same boat with you on being distracted by this game at work. It’s really brilliant, probably the best Metroidvania that’s not in either of those franchises that I’ve ever played. And I’ve

Looks very cool! I won’t be ready for it by August 2nd though, because Hollow Knight seems to be a massive game.

I don’t think I ever loved it, but I was really taken with Owlboy when I started it, because of the art, and what felt like a unique prologue of a game’s story. However, several frustrating design choices - including the overall control scheme - plus a story that did not at all live up to the potential set up by the

Are we really sure that humans are pursuing automated art so “fervently”? Why can’t it be a trivial fascination that people are doing with their excess free time? I find it very hard to believe that we as a whole are moving toward this and away from human-made art. I know an awful lot of people trying to create

Gotcha.  Sorry for bringing up a painful memory :(

Gotcha.  Sorry for bringing up a painful memory :(

I googled for this Tips article specifically because I was disheartened by that big, tough enemy to the right, so thanks so much for directly addressing that, Kirk!  The rest of the tips are great, too.  Can’t wait for this game to really open up, and to unlock the different traversal abilities!  Very excited to be at

This game is FANTASTIC. I bought it on Friday, and I’ve played it more than Hollow Knight, which I had bought the night before. I really enjoyed co-op, too. It might be the game that finally knocks Diablo III off as our go-to couch co-op game.

I really don’t think that’s true, actually. I played the game for the first time two days ago, and I played co-op for the first time yesterday, and I’m 98% sure my friend and I did not have shared health. I’m 100% sure that when I bought a half heart from the vendor as the cultist, my hearts when up by a half, and
