My second favorite Kotaku editor list after Jason’s this year. It includes four of my top five of the year, along with Stardew Valley, which I played for the first time this year (on Switch of course) and put over 130 hours into.

Your physical Zelda card. Your 64gb MicroSD card will work just fine. I use a 128gb card in my Switch.
This has inspired me to use part of my Best Buy gift card to purchase this game on Switch, even though I played through most of it on PS4.
I like “Wired2Fire Diablo Fury”. That sounds like it is plenty spicy for a gaming PC.
Looking forward to playing FFXII soon. I played XV last January, which was the first mainline game I had played since IX, and I enjoyed that quite a bit. It felt very appropriate for that month, too, so I might try to make FF January a tradition.
Must be back up, because I just bought Steamworld Dig 2!
Because your first comment was laced with judgement, not only facts. I’m only speculating though, it didn’t bother me particularly.
Fantastic list, Jason! This one includes five of my top ten of the year, along with three that I really wanted to play but didn’t get the opportunity (maybe I will this afternoon...). While I agree though that most games should be shorter, I definitely don’t feel that way about Super Mario Odyssey. The forty-five…
Seriously. I loved Nier, but that game was equal parts fascinating and fatiguing.
Well, I browse and comment on this site way more than I used to now that it is kinja. So for the last time this year, good riddance, Disqus!
Having either played or actively decided not to play all of these games, most of these don’t interest me at all. The one big exception is Hyrule Warriors, as I did play the game on N3DS, and enjoyed it very much, but I didn’t love the downgraded visuals, and it felt like too small a screen to play the game on. I had…
Done!
Done!
Pages is great though. So much better than Word ever was.
I’d play Okami again on the Switch.
Having to go into console settings and take your console offline in order to avoid aggravating strangers feels like a design flaw to me.
You’re probably right. In addition, Journey doesn’t give the player any opportunity to be toxic. I really wanted to tell the other player following me around to GTFO of my game, but I couldn’t.
Once again, Jenova Chen giving herself and her studio way too much credit. Journey made me uncomfortable, and then angry, because of the player who joined my game and then wouldn’t stop following me around to let me explore in peace and solitude.
Game of the Year Zelda Breath of the Wild. I’m gonna pass 200 hours pretty soon with this new DLC. Probably more Cuphead and Rare Replay as well.
Best Narrative is the only award that disappointed me. I’ve never played Edith Finch, but NieR: Automata had the best narrative of any game I’ve ever played, other than maybe The Last of Us, so I was really hoping that game would get recognized for that. The music was great, but not as great as Persona 5’s music.
Just watched this. I agree with everything you say in this review, except that the episode wasn’t funny. The T&P stuff is very funny, so there’s no reason you shouldn’t have laughed that hard. And I laughed even harder at the first scene between Mr. Mackey and Ms. Conduct, with all the M’kay’s and M’alright’s. The…
