I use [host-tracker.com] to keep tabs on a few of my sites (just a couple with the free option, I haven't decided to shell out some coin for the pay option yet). It seems to work rather well and I like the weekly digest showing my sites' total up time.
I used GreatNews for quite a while, until switching to Google Reader. Jack is still fixing bugs in the app, but doesn't have plans for any new features (at least according to a recent forum post on the site). That's too bad, it is really a nice application.
I've used mTail ([ophilipp.free.fr]) for quite a while. It has some nice filtering capabilities.
I'll have to check out BullZip... Ive been using the free PrimoPDF (www.primopdf.com) for quite a while.
I'm using an HP MediaSmart server (Windows Home Server) mainly for automated backups of my various other boxes (work laptop, XP/Ubuntu experimental laptop, and main desktop where all of the music, photos and videos live). I haven't experimented much with using it as a media server (other than photos via the built in…

@woldage: We just started using Confluence wiki at our company as a corporate collaboration / knowledge base tool, and so far it has been very cool. Adoption is slowly gaining ground, you just have to convince people that it is better to create content in the wiki for all to see and edit rather than using Word and…
I'll 2nd (or 3rd) DVD Profiler ([www.invelos.com]) awesome program. I've used it for years and it has worked out great. Another use for these programs is for insurance purposes in case of fire, theft, etc.
If you're will to spend some $, you can get a commercial alternative to Synergy called VCC-300 ([osblend.com]). It uses a USB cable between two computers to create a private network. Then you can share keyboard/mouse, clipboard, internet connection and drag&drop files between the two PCs. It's pretty slick. I use it…
These feature add-ons aren't really part of the Gmail team's "official" upgrades to Gmail. These are things that other Googlers came up with in there 20% time on other projects. See this article for the details: [www.techcrunch.com]
I used to use TextPad several years ago, then made the switch to UltraEdit (got it with UltraCompare and lifetime free upgrades for both for around $70). UE works wonders on large data files, column manipulation, syntax coloring, built in FTP and Telnet, etc. simply an awesome tool.
Here's the commercial version of a message taking screen saver that I found a couple of years ago: [www.gensortium.com]
I wrote an app a couple of years ago that adds a couple of handy features to this idea (like a list of "saved messages"). It's free and you can grab it here: [www.fugazidesigns.com]
I can see it on my lone video... it is sort of like a mini-Google Analytics for your video. You can zoom in on region, country, state, etc. Pretty nifty.
I use a couple of free apps to help manage windows on multiple monitors: reSizer ([zestant.googlepages.com]) is a good one to quickly shoot windows back and forth between monitors and resize them quickly with the Windows key and the numpad.
I voted for higher salary, although some of the perks mentioned do contribute to you "earning more money". Telecommuting saves gas and commute time (time is money) and if you have to work in an office, free lunches everyday could save you some bucks over time. But ultimately, if you are compensated enough you can…
I've used DVD Profiler for years and it has been great (I entered most of my DVDs with a CueCat barcode scanner). It's handy to have the complete list on my Pocket PC phone (I dump the list into HanDBase) for shopping trips (although I've pretty much stopped buying DVDs in favor of Netflix...at least until I get a Blu…
I just got into photography a bit (picked up a Canon Rebel XTi a month ago) and macro photography is really something I'm interested in. There is a good article here [strobist.blogspot.com] about building a little macro studio to make your photos really pop.
There is a pretty good article here: [www.43folders.com]
