This is surprising to me. I played BF1 and BFV (on european servers if that matters). I felt like nobody gave a fuck about the worst teammate out of 64. Of course there was the occasional racist insult but by and large all chat was comparably clean. Compared to LoL (which I would nominate for the most toxic community…

I get that argument. I loved when Heroes of the Storm did that in a notoriously toxic genre. That said: I have played the last 2 Battlefields extensively and I have seen almost no toxicity playing online. It’s also pretty much impossible to target anybody because you have no idea who’s who anyway.
