Oh, right, I forgot that Jalopnik has turned against manual transmissions. Actually controlling a car is “elitist” now.
That’s what brought the franchise model to my mind. Be the boss, but completely at the mercy of the franchisor.
A great way to find out which $60k car you’d rather have
I really hope the Grand Sport gets a NA flat plane DOHC engine.
Are they going to support mandatory buybacks for every semi-auto rifle right off the bat? Almost certainly not, but there are steps we can take along the way that can lessen gun violence while still reassuring a community that their way of life isn’t being taken away.
Let me know when it finds the missing pedal.
Yes, they always do.
“Objectively untrue?” No way... Everyday you make thousands of choices. You choose to get up. To wear the blue shirt instead of the red one. To have the black coffee instead of the latte. To go to work. To roll the stop sign. To park in the spot at the end of the lot. To go through the side door instead of the front.…
If you didn’t believe they had a choice, would you argue that they should be treated better?
because people are horrible at valuing their time, working out what their true cost structure is (including opportunity costs), and assigning a corresponding valuation to make it actually worth their while.
as another example of the gig economy, look at what happens on Turo. People will rent you their personal car at…
Everyone has a choice. Always. We have got to quit acting like everyone in this country is a victim and start realizing that they are consenting adults who are making poor choices...
Opinion:
Not sure what you find so funny. You are the one that mentioned stats. This all started because I replied to another person that apparently had similar experiences to me. But I’ve never claimed they were anything more than my own experiences. So, yeah, maybe a little reading comp would help.
So what are the numbers then? Because as I said I never see a single cyclist even vaguely respect a stop sign. Whereas I see cars stop literally every time I drive. Also, for the record, I do ride. But you’re much more likely to find me on unpaved trails than paved. Bombing down the mountain at Trestle was one of…
Having cycled regularly for over a decade in the urban areas of Metro DC and always with a calibrated speedometer, I’m compelled to “agree to disagree.” To your second point, I hate “bikes” that do not obey traffic laws—nothing more, nothing less.
It’s not a different standard at all. What don’t you get about, for example, cars often make rolling stops at stop signs but cyclists more often than not just blow through? Cyclists are waaaaaaaaaaay more flagrant in their disregard for the rules. And it’s not even vaguely close. And at no point have I denied that…
I would *so damn gladly* have a cop on every corner handing out tickets to cyclists (including for things like lights, bells, helmets, where they’re mandated) if it meant that they would also enforce the laws that are meant to make us safe.
It’s the same here. We have a growing network of multi-use trails (cyclists and pedestrians... no motor vehicles) and where these trails cross roadways the trails have their own stop signs. I have yet to see a single cyclist stop at one unless a car is already moving in front of them. And, no, I’m not exaggerating. …
