This is a good take.

Yeah, summthin’ ain’t right there. I wall charge my Volt overnight at 110V/12A, and easily go from 0-100%. That’s 18.4kWh, or 40-60 miles, depending on driving speed.
True to an extent, and I’m 100% with you on the trend of sites closing down comments sections—can their be a more smug, elitist way to tell your readers that they are of a lower caste than the writers and editors? That said, as far as the rich gobbling-up media organizations, so long as there’s a Koch for every Soros…
This cannot be emphasized enough: The *ONLY* thing that matters with respect to the future and direction of EV’s, is charging times. Get them down to approximate that of a fill-up and all the other debates, nuances, infrastructure questions, EV-splaining arguments, etc. go away!
I’m envisioning the next 007 Aston having a mysterious button labeled “Squid Defense” that blasts said ink out of the HVAC vents, directly into the passenger’s eyes, incapacitating him.
For the reasons you lay out above, I think we’re going to see a huge expansion in the salvage parts industry for these kinds of technowidgets off of otherwise unserviceable hulls.
90's Charger??? Did you mean 80's (and very early 90's) Daytona? The Charger went away in ‘87 and did not reemerge until ‘06.
I have no issue with the Flex, but “its best-looking and most distinctive car"???
I think the Mustang and the GT40 would like a word...
I had to check the calendar for 1 April after seeing this article and the pics. Are you guys just messin’ with us now since it’s Monday? I mean this isn’t even close, unless it comes with a lifetime of fellatio or something similar hidden in the subtext.
That’s one of the reasons she’s making the case, albeit a pipe dream, for manufacturers to resurrect analog cars again. Nice AE86, btw :-)
Unless you’re talking about going back to carburetors, I don’t think the “analog” we’re referring to in this context has any negative impact on reliability. If anything, likely the opposite.
Not unless Nader is a secret Exxon-Mobile catspaw.
And the guy with the hook for a hand that you heard about in summer camp.
Or you could run your charging cord under the garage door and charge the EV in the driveway. This is how I charge my Volt, although not for safety reasons—my 1974 Corvette convertible enjoys the shelter of the garage.
I’m a little fuzzy on the whole good-bad thing, Egon...
Yeah...the ones with daddy issues are riding on the back.
Even if Harley didn’t change a single model in their lineup, lowering their artificially inflated prices, not just for the bikes themselves, but for parts and service too, would go a LONG way to gaining them some traction in the market. There is zero reason for their motorcycles to be literally 300% the price of the…
No, we don’t *need* gasoline with the current EV charging infrastructure in the US, especially for Tesla. But a not insignificant number of Americans make drives beyond the range of your Tesla on at least a semi-regular basis, and until technology reduces charge times to approximate a fill-up, the convenience of using…
