Do you really think people still using those arcane things have graduated past the flip-phone? ;-)

The change you describe is the result of states decriminalizing “gas-and-dash”.

Also - Another big offender for causing pump parking (at least in CA) are these damn cash or debit only stations. Despite all money they allegedly save by refusing credit cards, the shysters still charge a fee to use a debit/ATM card at the

Still not as bad as Streetspeed717 with his gym workout interludes to “car” videos...
BARF!

Not to go way down an off-topic rabbit hole, but this is exactly my Gen-X take on why I don’t get AirBnB.

Tires, oil, and depreciation, yes. But all these cars are (and will remain) under warranty while they’re Turo rentals, and Turo customers pay for their own gas. So cost to maintain and consumables are likely far less than what you’re assuming.

Exaggerate much? I mean there are upgrades in the Mazda’s interior, but you’re writing like you’re comparing a bespoke coach-built interior on a Pagani to that of a Daewoo.

I can’t recall a single 70's-era print car ad photo that was taken on a nice sunny day. Even when the subjects of the photo are engaged in sunny-day activities, like a cheerful family picnic by the lake. Anyone in the photography world know the reason behind this dreary and ubiquitous stylistic choice for the time?

Name any other device in existence that has an entire Constitutional amendment written solely about it. Rightly or wrongly, the Government cannot require a license in order for individuals to exercise their Constitutional rights.

If only I could bequeath a galaxy, rather than a single measly star.

Excellent point. Although FWIW most franchise opportunities are also marketed as “Be Your Own Boss” scenarios.

Yes, you’re correct...
...in about a quarter century.

The real question is whether Luber can hang in there that long.

How has a Brian Fantana meme not appeared in the comments about this graph?? ;-)

I mean, 60% of the time it works every time!

I agree with your points, but I’m not sure Turo is the best example, as you use it. My best friend has been renting his vehicles on Turo since it was called RelayRides and making genuine supplemental income from it. In fact, his two most recent Turo vehicles were specifically selected and acquired as extra cars

If you have legitimate stats to back up your point, I’m more than receptive, as I understand the pitfalls of anecdotal evidence. So please share. But my observations over the 43+ years I’ve been alive mirror those of Mr. Vidikron.

Having cycled regularly for over a decade in the urban areas of Metro DC and always with a calibrated speedometer, I’m compelled to “agree to disagree.” To your second point, I hate “bikes” that do not obey traffic laws—nothing more, nothing less.

What fallacy are you talking about? As a matter of fact, what on God’s green earth are you talking about??? Please, point to where I said motorists don’t regularly “roll” stop signs. You can’t—I never said it. Moreover, what I did say in numerous posts here is specifically the exact opposite.

My point—my only

It’s like you’re arguing a point that has nothing to do with my original comment at all.

I don’t claim to know who police are currently penalizing “everywhere”, nor was that any part of my posting. I’m arguing for what police *should* be doing, irrespective of the anecdotes as to what they do now. And that’s citing

Yes, that behavior happens everywhere, but what I’m pointing to are those who outright run a “standing” red light or stop sign as though it didn’t exist—both motorists and cyclists. In San Diego, such behavior is ubiquitous for cyclists but quite rare for motorists.

Please no straw men and false narratives. *NO ONE* cycles at 4mph. Most people walk faster than 4mph. Cyclists on the street are typically moving at 20-25mph, and do not break that velocity by 1mph as they blow through lights and stop signs they believe shouldn’t apply to them because of their “momentum”.
