I think a lot of this has to do with ‘attracting youth’. Marketing always says that these obnoxious over the top designs and color schemes is to attract a younger buyer. It has red accents everywhere! It’s youthful, sporty, fun - its not the *insert car here* that their dad drove. Sure the specs are cool - wide sticky

I might be crazy, but I’ve got a tune on my 1.8t and thus far have had zero issues. I think I got it around 135k, I have 178k now and I’m still making the same boost numbers and have had zero reliability issues.

Yea it definitely seems like one of those ‘make statistics say anything’ type of situations.

I thought it seemed a bit high as well. Shit, I own a mk4 Jetta and I don’t spend that a year. Maybe that figure is calculated based off people that have a car payment?

I’ve used Uber for nights out and such as well, but it’s not something I would get rid of my car for. I keep trying to make this point as well, and no one seems to agree with me. I’d rather sit in traffic in my own car with my own music than have to sit in a ride share car, or on public transportation.

My wife’s brother is among one of the people that think this way. I’m not doubting that things are headed this way, but to think it will happen by 2025 seems crazy. He moved to Seattle, got rid of his car, and walks or uses public transit. The best was when he came to visit us in LA (recent transplants) and asked why

The design also looks like a lot of concept trucks I’ve seen, and the renderings are pretty garbage. Almost looks like they just downloaded a 3D model and used free visualization software. If its that easy to start a company these days I know what I’ll be doing tonight!

Exactly this. Any company (not just automotive) have cheats, secrets etc. Everyone knows whats going on around the different companies and everyone agrees to keep their mouth shut because its for the greater good. You’ve gotta think that with the way law suits are, I’m sure a company could have sued VW for lost sales

I think I was about 11 when this came out and I was already a car nut, but being the movie it was my parents had to watch it first and approve it for me to watch. So my parents rent it, and it was like trying to sleep on Christmas eve, I wanted to watch this car movie so bad. The next day I ask my dad about it and his

This is great news. I’m going to call my boss who asked if I drove “One of those polluting Nazi cars” and tell him that his precious GM lied too. I’ve honestly been waiting for more companies to come forward about misleading numbers.

The other issue I have with the large hood creases is that you can’t see the edge of the hood (illustrated in your photo as well). I love the car, but for me it’s weird not being able to see the other side of the hood when you’re driving. Not a deal breaker, or anything, just being picky.

I can’t speak to tuning potential, but from a styling point of view I’d go with a MK6 over a MKV any day of the week.

I know right! If I want to be unsafe, thats my choice! If I want to pay you money, mount whatever tire I want!

Pretty much. I remember poking around when the MK7 came out, and people were drilling out the closed off sections of their grille because ‘Theres no way the car is getting enough air”. I guess they don’t realize all the engineering and testing that goes into building a car, especially something like the front end, and

Yea that was my guess as well. That website is great, and awful all at the same time. I’ve seen some truly dumb things on that website that make me question how these people can even drive a car, let alone start modding it.

Hell yea! I know the reputation they have, so I try to share my experience whenever I can. I’m convinced I haven’t had any issues because mine was German built since its a wagon.

Checking in with 176! Clutch and flywheel have been done, as well as its second timing belt and water pump service. *knock on wood* my car has treated me great.

Totally agree with this, but people with 120hp still merge onto the highway like they have 23.

Seriously... people like that drive me nuts. I know its tough, its not a great situation, but I just want some basic courtesy from one human to another. I’ve have women fall asleep on me as well, and I want to ask them if its OK for me to fall asleep on them.

On my last flight from dtw to lax I had a girl next to me totally invading all of my seat. She brought a full size pillow and kept it on her lap, which means it was on my lap as well, and then proceeded to fall asleep. Seriously, just have some situational awareness about your belongings and other peoples space. I
