In high-school a friend and I went off-roading, he in his lifted TJ, me in my trusty, bone stock ‘95 Mercury Mystique. We forded some water, I busted a strut spring, it was a great time. I guess the statute of limitations for earning a Jalopnik sticker is probably up though...

I love in the metro detroit area, so its kind of unfair. They weren’t dealer or manufacture plates, but they were probably still auto execs. You’re probably right though, that people don’t cross shop the two cars.

Not sure where you’re from, but I actually saw two this weekend. I was thinking the same thing you were, and I saw both a coupe and sedan.

“Have you seen a car broken down? Have you seen someone working on their car? On tonight's news we’ll be discussing ‘Free Range Auto Repair’. Individuals are putting not only themselves, but you and I at risk by performing their own maintenance instead of bringing it to a registered shop for professionals to repair.”

Whered you get them? I’m doing a search because I’d love one, and definitely don’t mind paying for them, but can’t find prints available for purchase.

As for big things for a car nearing 200k, timing bel andt water pump are done. Clutch has been replaced (I didnt do it, though I wish I had). Everything else is in good working order. Its in need of an exhaust, I can hear some small leaks starting, and suspension will have to come soon also. I might also need shift

I dont ever need to carry a whole bunch of people, but I would like jump seats so I can chill in the back during a car meet or similar type of event.

I was talking to my father before we did the timing belt on my car and thats exactly what he said. Its all nuts and bolts. Coming from a man that can fix anything from a lawnmower to off highway diesel equipment , that gave me a slight boost in confidence. I havent been left stranded because of a preventable mistake

I had looked at one that not only had the fender rusted away but the strut towers also looked like swiss cheese, and he still wanted over 4 grand. And of course... got all pissy when I pointed this out and left.

Right? I could understand the ride height if it was like a rally/allroad type concept. But why on earth was it that high for a sports car?

Sounds like a 3800 with an exhaust leak!

Right around when the mk7 came out I was cruising around the MK7 forums on VW Vortex to see what people were up to , and that was one of the top threads. People wanting intakes because "a 200+ hp car with a turbo needs to breathe better than this stock airbox" and a whole bunch of shit talking about how stupid the VW

I thought some Mercedes did this? But yes, I'm in full support of this.

In the last big storm we got here in MI that was my biggest problem. My car does great in the snow, but when im just snowplowing through 10in of snow, my wonderful snow tires don't matter a bit.

My biggest thing that sort of relates to education is the lack of knowledge and confidence when it comes to driving in whatever type of weather is common in your area. I grew up in upstate NY, and then moved to MI so in my case, I'm talking about snow. People in Michigan, friends of mine who are car people even,

In college I did research on cellulosic ethanol which can be made from weeds, grass, wood, etc. I went to design school so I only researched enough to say thats what my concept would run on, and that you could make it from weeds, but that seems like it could be a viable alternative to corn. Obviously I dont know how

For a while my grandparents were living on Long Island and building a place to retire to upstate. They had an Astro Van, so when they drove upstate for the weekend, the backseat would come out of the van to be used in the living room. Years later they sold the van, but kept that back seat until they sold the place on

I don't understand answers like the HHR and GLE. There wasn't one before it. The vehicle was more 'invented by the game' but not changed by the game. I feel like the Honda Civic would have been a great answer.

They need to start teaching this to more people. I have my mirrors like that, and no one believes me thats the way it should be despite the advantages.

My great aunt and uncle had one for the longest time, driven to the store and back, and it sat in the garage otherwise. Even as a teenager I wanted that car. I have no idea what happened to it after they both passed away. Some lucky person on Long Island ended up with a super clean CRX.
