@SharpnPointy: That's true, but the current Kindle hardware can't handle embedded video/audio properly (as you pointed out). This functionality may be offered in future versions of the Kindle, which could have colour e-ink displays and faster processors capable of handling it.

@seanpat12: That too, but the browser takes priority in my opinion. RIM's competitors absolutely trounce the current browser.

@sbunny: Well, it's one way of using touch technology while retaining one of the company's strongest assets - its reliable QWERTY keypad.

One thing that RIM desperately needs to upgrade is its browser ASAP. The current version is pitiful, to say the least, and unworthy of being on a modern smartphone.

@armendni: Isn't the back of the 9700 made of leather?

@modestmouse: Accidents do happen even when you're careful for the most part. If someone bumps into you when you're holding your phone and you drop it as a result, it's not exactly your fault.

@blehbleh13: True, but it's sooo shiny (and I feel like spending part of my bonus on that). A higher resolution screen wouldn't necessarily improve its functionality (although a camera might be nice - and somewhat unnecessary for video calling).

Great, just as I was considering getting an iPad, this article comes along. Makes me wonder what resolution Apple will use for the next gen iPad, and if it's worth waiting for that then.

@The Lab: My first thought when I read that line was "That's what she said!", but your response is way better. +1 to you, good sir.

@kamalster: True, maybe you could ask if there's anything urgent before saying you'd call back. I'm all for etiquette, but I don't want to miss a call if it's urgent.

Nice! I hope the latest version fixes the issues I've had with my Nexus One dock so far: my phone keeps on rebooting when I try to play music from the dock.

Even outside of dates, people just tend to fiddle around with their phones while hanging out with other people (I'm guilty of it myself when I'm bored). My view is that if the call/message is urgent, it's fine to take it. Otherwise, just chatting with other people is rude and needs to be limited to a simple "I'll call

@baneyu: Hmm, that's a really nice way to handle it, especially if your date is talking for an obnoxiously long time on the phone. Kudos to you, good sir.

@Drunkenlobster: How long was she on the phone for and was it an urgent call? If she could have talked to that person later, I agree with the way you handled things; otherwise, it might have been a bit too harsh.

Nice album choice, Michael. Seems like The National is a lot more popular than I thought.

@SadAstronaut: The Gaslight Anthem has a new album out??? Damn, I had no idea. I think I was too caught up in the High Violet hype.

@Comatose Turtle: Yup, it's been out for a month now. Awesome album, and I got to see them live in London. It was amazing, to say the least :)

Steve Jobs should totally wear that outfit in his next public appearance: it looks so much cooler than his tired turtleneck, jeans and New Balances combination.
