St. Louis is the only place in the US where your average white dude might have grown up playing soccer from the 1950-1980's.
St. Louis was actually the cradle of US soccer, so there’s a lot of soccer history there and they had an NASL team from 1968 to ‘77. They’ve drawn pretty well for the friendlies played in the area in the last few years.

I’ve heard of Chicago Blackhawks fans that buy season tickets in STL or Nashville strictly so they can get tickets for Blues/Preds v Hawks games. They sell on the rest to pay for the costs of the season ticket and travel to/from that site to watch the games they want to see.
