Not to put to fine a point on it, but I think that’s exactly their intent. They don’t want to participate in democracy, they just want to be in power.

Some day, when he’s old and bitter and cynical enough, he can come to generally dislike people as much as I do. But that will be his choice. Until then, I’ll let him maintain faith in other people.

Trying to explain all of this to my six year old yesterday, he asked if they were all bad people, and the most best thing I could come up with was “no, not all of them. Some of them are truly bad people, a lot of them are probably just stupid and gullible.”

I liked how Fox News said “it was not immediately apparent what led to the shooting”.
