National parks are consistently better protected from poachers than hunting areas. National parks also consistently demonstrate higher populations of large mammals. The people managing hunting areas may make an effort to stop illegal poaching, but it is inadequate.
That’s because there is absolutely no argument that can be made for thinning the population of any big game animals. Population is already in decline due to human encroachment and climate change, and now we have rich assholes literally driving their jeeps up to slaughter what’s left.
