It’s not good that the jobs are gone, but it’s difficult to feel sympathy for those who feel entitled to high paying jobs in an area where the median household income is under $50k (and surrounding areas are much lower).

There was a GM plant about 10 minutes from where I grew up, and it was the one that built Tahoes/Suburbans (Janesville, WI). When it closed down, the former workers there thought every blue collar job in the area was beneath them since they didn’t pay $25/hour+ for their high school diploma.
