yea definitely, someone made a 3 hour movie so they could get away with 10 minutes of unsimulated sex. The coming of age story in Blue is anything but thin, and while I'll admit that sex scene got a little male-gazey I really can't understand why that would define the other 2 hours and 50 minutes of the film for you.
