It’s not my lottery ticket but if anyone just wants to give me $60,000,000 I promise to spend it on only the finest projects, like a movie starring Jennifer Lawrence as David O. Russell.

I tried, I really did. Hell, I voted #WalrusYes but the movie just didn’t work for me, not even as one of those “okay at least it’s kind of funny” horror movies.
Doooon’t bother with Tusk.
Also I agree that his lack of distance from his audience has hurt him in some ways - it makes it easy for folks to take personal attacks him when by all accounts he’s one of the nicest people in the biz
Tusk was excellent.
Kevin is the dude. He's genuine, loves his family and friends, super loyal, yet still manages to have that college guy persona. To be 21 and a stand up person is the ultimate.
I’m not a huge fan of Kevin Smith’s movies but... someone want to explain to me why this story shows him to be an asshole? I see these comments acting like Smith did something wrong here when I think his response was funny and on the right side of things. So, yeah— someone want to explain to me how this story somehow…
Two men tried to lure her into their car, under false pretenses. If you can read that and come away thinking Kevin Smith is the sad excuse for a man, you must just really hate Kevin Smith, amirite?
And come on, he made Dogma. And God was played by Alanis!
Harley and her dad seem to have a really cute relationship. It’s not like mine with my father, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t good. They seem really happy and spend a lot of time together.
Please. Woman here who is proud to work in the comic industry. Take you snobbery and go read a graphic novel because you’re severely misinformed about who should be reading comics, and at what age you should stop. Here’s a hint, it’s the same age you should give up on reading. Perhaps you’ve already done that and…
everything I hear about Kevin Smith is that he’s generally a really nice guy, it’s no surprise he’s a good dad too
which is a terrible way to live when you are in your 40s
Kevin Smith is delightful, imo. And I don’t even care that he named his kid after a Batman villain—his comic nerd cred checks out.
whatever you think of Kevin Smith he comes off as a really great, genuinely loving dad.
Her family name is the bane of their existence, but if the republicans had to choose one set of policies from the two, it would be Hillary without a doubt.
Religion is a cultural artifact too. Everything we do is cultural.
It’s not necessarily “us”. The modesty guidelines that mandate wearing hijab usually also come along with the guideline that “dancing in public is sinful.” (Some of the pushback this girl is getting is from the Muslim community, about the act of dancing being haram even if she is covered.)
Yeah, that’s about where my support stops. If you willingly take on a role in another company and the designer is like “nope, that doesn’t work with my vision” I think as a performer you should either relent or quit. I doubt every single performer is 100% comfortable with what the designer makes them wear, but they do…
Ballet is all about the lines of the human body. Costumes are typically very tight in order to showcase those lines. It does seem like there would be a conflict with the modesty required by someone who practices the hijab.
Very, but this may be more of a correlation than a causation thing. It sounds like Muslim familes where the girls are raised to wear a hijab are not likely to send their daughters to ballet class in the first place. Given the combination of money, time, effort, and inate skill, and opportunity that it takes to become…
