The claims seem to be that dioxin causes cancer and rayon causes TSS. The FDA’s response to that is, I think, that the dioxin levels are too low to have an effect on health and that the link between Rayon and TSS is unclear and the condition is extremely rare anyway.

Yes.

That picture is amazing and this woman is a boss.

If cats and dogs are innocent, why aren’t people also innocent? That seems to imply that humans have some capacity for moral reasoning that, perhaps, animals lack.

He’s the same height as Wilson.

I don’t think I’m introducing or advocating any kind of metric for individual shootings, but making a broader statement about who will likely be negatively affected by policing.

I’m not exploring his motives, I was just wondering if his claim that there’s no financial motive is valid.

It sounds like he was in prison for some of this, so maybe some of them were conceived during conjugal visits? That and, as we’ve learned from ‘I didn’t know I was pregnant,’ some women just ... don’t look pregnant.

The statement suggests he’d agree to her waiving her parental/financial obligations to the future child, though as I know nothing about how child support works I have no idea if that’s legit or if you can contract away child support. Anyone know?

I don’t think Wilson’s actions being non-criminal are the same thing as them being just. But I do think that whatever mistakes Brown made that day, were he a white man, he’d have a better chance of surviving them.

Statistics on police shootings are fairly unreliable since record keeping varies drastically from department to department, so in many cases records simply don’t exist. Studies of bias, however, show that people of all races tend to show a bias against black people. If you ask a black or white person what type of

But, generally the standard for killing in self defense — even if you’re a police officer — is a reasonable fear of death or serious bodily harm. My reading of this would obviously be different if Brown was killed in the initial struggle for the weapon, but Brown was not killed at that time, he was killed later after

That image is not news to me. I agree that trying to make Michael Brown the “perfect victim” was a mistake, but the charging part is pretty key as it’s the thing that would suggest Wilson’s fear that his life was in danger at the time is reasonable (though, some would argue that even in that case it’s not a reasonable

That there isn’t enough evidence to bring any charges doesn’t mean the killing was “just.” The “hands up don’t shoot” narrative was incorrect, sure, but whether Brown was actually ‘charging’ Wilson, as he claimed, remains very unclear and even witness accounts that are supported by the physical evidence conflict on

I get what you’re saying, but I still think that trying to stir the pot by desecrating a memorial to a young black man killed by the police is racist, even if you didn’t do it out of a hatred for black people. Racism by severe lack of self-awareness, I suppose.

Attention, I think, is what they want/usually get out of it.

I’m just going to leave this list here, which is from the Alzheimer’s Association and includes links to facts sheets/articles/discussions regarding changes in sexuality as the disease progresses:

I have a few rescue cats. I love them, but if one of my cats was strapped to a train track, and so was a human toddler to whom I had no connection and I could only save one of them, I’m saving the human.

There were lots of house fires during Sandy. High winds with electrical stuff getting knocked out, etc.

And, I’m not a comedy scholar or anything, but it seems like comics now don’t rely as heavily on the late night shows as they once might have since the internet makes it easier to get their names out so it’s ... maybe less important?
