My 13 year old daughter does special fx! She’s attending a camp for it next week and I’m really excited. She’s self-taught so far so it’ll be interesting to see how/if she changes technique with instruction. Here’s her latest:

I think they’re both kind of awful and wrong, but it stands out to me that Ariel *appears* to have grown up into the type of person she says her mother was trying to turn her into, which is why she wanted to get away from her.

Eh, I’m torn on the Ariel sitch. As a parent, I understand what the mom is saying but Ariel is 19 years old; she’legally an adult and it’s her body. She’s not putting herself at risk, so let her do her, mom. This is apparently what kids do today. I just got high and listened to a lot of R.E.M and the Smiths at 19.

I’m team Ariel winters mom. This child is lost and looking for trouble.

I’ve always thought of her as the feminist version of Al Sharpton. Nobody knows exactly what she does, but she’s parlayed her ability to glom on to high-profile situations into a personal ATM.
