Let’s remember that Subaru has been churning out engines that burn oil and what not for the last 15 years. Nobody else’s timing chain engines are that sensitive to extra silicone RTV. That's not an excuse for mediocre mechanicking, but it sure doesn't help.

Its a pretty terrible oiling design if extra sealant is killing engines. Remember, the mechanics nare the same and they’ve been working on mostly timing chain engines for ages now. There’s no “I’m not familiar with a boxer engine” excuse. It’s all nuts and bolts.

Its like everyone is just hording old cars as a hobby now. You don’t see any of this stuff driving around..  every garage has a car nobody drives.
